ASSOCIATION OF HAMPSHIRE AND ISLE OF WIGHT LOCAL AUTHORITIES
Friday 18 July 1997
ASSOCIATION SECRETARIAT
Paper from the Honorary Secretary
1. The first meeting of the Association appointed me as Honorary Secretary for a two year period. Under the constitution, the authority providing the Honorary Secretary is deemed to be the lead authority for the Association. The lead authority also provides office accommodation, employment support and shared use of office facilities for the Association’s staff.
2. Havant Borough Council has now written to confirm its offer to take on the Honorary Secretaryship from June 1999.
3. The Association has been formed to add value for all its member councils. There will be an opportunity for members to review progress at the annual meeting in June 1998, at which time preliminary decisions can be taken about future accommodation and officer support.
4. Meanwhile I have thanked Havant Borough Council for their offer to take on the Secretariat, which demonstrates their determination to see this Association develop into a recognised voice for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight
