Minutes of the Meeting held on 27 September 2001
1. Andy Holdup referred to the minutes of the meeting which had not been circulated but were on the website ( The Customer Services Development Group were looking at traffic and FAQs at separate out of hours services. They would be meeting soon and an analysis would be produced.
Operation of the Group, and Work Programme
2. It was generally agreed:
* collaboration would lead to better funding and reduced
costs
* local autonomy/ownership and identity were vital.
3. It was agreed that Andy Holdup would prepare an analysis of common threads where there was room for joint working. To enable him to do this, Andy would circulate a pro-forma seeking:
* one page description of present platform
* main e-Government projects currently planned or under way.
* priority rating for joint projects.
4. Meanwhile the Group should concentrate on three issues, or groups of work, each of which would be kick-started by means of a workshop open to all:
* HPSN/Telecoms - Ian Elves to prepare and circulate a
one-page update
* CRM - Portsmouth to lead
* Service catalogue/portal/forms - Andy Holdup to lead.
Once this work was progressing, the Group would need to re-visit its overall management arrangements.
5. Nick Goulder reported that as a result of new work for the Association staff on Community Safety partnerships, he would no longer be attending the E-Government Steering Group. However, his PA, Diane Allen, would be prepared to continue to maintain and develop the website.
Presentation by DTLR
6. Janice Morphet of the DTLR Local Government Modernisation Team provided an extensive briefing on e-Government nationally, including:
Pathfinder projects
Partnerships
National projects
BVPI 157
Impact of Local PSAs
National Strategy
She offered to provide further briefings as the national strategy developed and to attend the Best Value Network.
Members of the Group thanked her for her presentation.
Next Meeting
7. To be arranged by Andy Holdup in consultation with the Chairman, Peter Robertson.
